English lawyers normally charge on a time basis. Where possible, at CANDEY we prefer to act on a no win – no fee basis charging our clients a percentage of money they recover. We are one of only a very few firms of leading commercial litigation lawyers who will act on this contingency basis known formally as “damages based agreements”.
We also act on conditional fee agreements in insolvency and defamation cases where we charge our fees to our opponents at double our hourly rates.
Where appropriate we will also fund barristers’ fees.
Our innovative and flexible approach to fees is favoured by multi-nationals looking to reduce risk and improve their balance sheets, as well as private individuals who might not have the appetite for risk or access to capital to otherwise litigate.
