Maxwell Pillmore - US Attorney

Maxwell is a US attorney licensed in New York.  Before joining CANDEY, Maxwell worked as a Visiting Foreign Lawyer at WilmerHale’s international arbitration practice, focusing on complex commercial and investment disputes.  Highlights of his experience include a multi-billion-dollar family trust arbitration, an ICSID investment arbitration in the telecommunications sector, a multi-billion-dollar ICC commercial arbitration involving a multinational food corporation, and an LCIA commercial arbitration in the energy sector.  

Previously, Maxwell was a Fellow at the International Development Law Organization in Rome, where he assisted in various public law matters, including drafting and reviewing international memoranda.  Prior to entering law, Maxwell also founded and ran a steel trading corporation based in China, specialising in the sale of Chinese steel to clients in Russia and Azerbaijan.

Maxwell read law at University College London (LL.B.) and New York University (LL.M.).  He additionally studied Chinese and History at the University of Edinburgh (M.A. (Hons)) and underwent further Mandarin Chinese language training at the Beijing Language and Culture University.  Throughout his academic career, Maxwell won several prizes and scholarships for academic excellence and success in mooting.
