Partner

Mo is a highly experienced and totally client-focussed commercial litigator. He has exceptional legal credentials having practised at the English Bar for twenty years, and was appointed a QC in 2015. He then made the move to the British Virgin Islands where he was a Partner and Head of Office of a top-tier international law firm. The 2018 Caribbean Legal 500 directory describes him as a “first class heavyweight”. Missing the weather he returned to the UK and joined CANDEY in 2019.
He is motivated by his desire to reach the best outcome for the client. This is the same whatever the size and shape of the case. He has acted on behalf of the Government of Malaysia seeking to recover $3.5bn lost in the infamous 1MDB scandal, for liquidators in the $2billion Petters fraud, on behalf of Vincent Tchenguiz in the £600million family trust dispute with his brother, Robert, and in numerous other business and commercial cases. He most recently defended a client in £20million London High Court proceedings brought by Irina Abramovich.
Mo has acted in disputes crossing the borders of the Caribbean Islands, CIS, the USA, UAE and Far East. He has advised shareholders, directors and partners in company disputes, liquidators and creditors in insolvency claims, on interim relief and enforcement in foreign law claims, contractual and tort issues, professional negligence claims and construction and technology-related disputes (including e-currencies).
He has regularly appeared in international arbitrations operated under different arbitral rules (ICC, LCIA and UNCITRAL). He is the author of the BVI and Cayman Islands chapters in 2018 Global Legal Insights “International Arbitration”.
Out of the office, Mo enjoys risking injuring by skiing the mountains and ‘running’ around on the football pitch. He aspires to be cultural with occasional visits to the theatre and opera, but in reality spends most of his time fending away his three young children.
