David Harby TEP - Partner - London & BVI
David is a Partner in in our BVI office. He is a BVI and English barrister, litigator and CEDR accredited mediator. David has also been admitted as an attorney in the Cayman Islands (presently non-practising). He is a Full Member (“TEP”) of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
David has extensive experience of high value, complex international litigation and arbitration and is an accomplished advocate, with experience of regularly appearing before the ECSC High Court and Court of Appeal. He has particular expertise in insolvency, fraud and asset tracing, trust and private client matters. David routinely advises and works with insolvency practitioners, trustees, family offices, registered agents and financial institutions throughout the world (and, in particular, in the Middle East, Asia and Latin America). He has an interest in disputes and insolvencies involving novel asset classes and cryptocurrency and qualified as a Blockchain Developer certified by the Blockchain Council.
Prior to joining CANDEY, David was the head of litigation and local managing partner at well-known offshore law firms. During his career, David has been responsible for the conduct of, and appeared in Court in relation to, some of the most significant and valuable insolvency, fraud and trust disputes to come before the BVI, Cayman and English Courts.
David has been mentioned in both Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500. David has been described as a “first-class litigator with a great tactical mind. David holds an LL.B (Hons) degree from The University of Birmingham and an LL.M degree in corporate and commercial law from The University of London..
